The Lincoln Memorial is an American memorial erected in honor of the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. It is one of many dedicated to a President in Washington D.C.'s National Mall complex. Three people are often attributed the most credit for the completion of the Lincoln Memorial: architect Henry Bacon, sculptor Daniel Chester French, and the painter Jules Guerin. Done in the style of Greek Revival, the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated on May 30, 1922. It since went on to become the site of many famous rallies and speeches such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech of August 28, 1963 and the rally of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The statue of Abraham Lincoln is made of Georgia white marble, is about 19 feet tall, and weighs 159 tons. The oblong pedestal, made of Tennessee marble, is 10 feet tall. The epitaph above Lincoln reads, "In This Temple As In The Hearts Of The People For Whom He Saved The Union The Memory Of Abraham Lincoln Is Enshrined Forever."
In the present era, Batman constructed an auxiliary Batcave underneath the Doric Temple that houses the Lincoln Memorial. Access to the Batcave is gained by pressing a switch hidden in Lincoln's right toe. When activated, a passageway opens in the pedestal, revealing a firepole. The new Justice League were taken there to formulate a strategy against the Apokoliptian invasion but Booster Gold idiotically gave away their location. Thus, the Lincoln Memorial joined the other landmarks ravaged by the invasion.
