The Hook, much to his namesake, fashions a hook on his left hand. This physical feature does not diminish his expert sniper abilities. He is a contract assassin for the League of Assassins, an international organization that eliminates targets for a premium price. In order to be considered for League membership, the Hook was required to complete a hit. He chose a random target at the Haley's Circus, Boston Brand the star trapeze artist known as Deadman. Brand managed to see the hook and even Batman took on the case. After Deadman and Batman met in London, Batman vowed he would solve the case once and for all.
